Archelonian Dragons are large, sedentary dragons with spiked shells found in deep waters. Once hatched, these dragons make their way toward the nearest source of water and only leave to find larger bodies of water should they outgrow their current home, or to deposit eggs into a hole dug into sand or soil. Although Archelonian dragons are most often found sleeping at the bottom of their chosen home, they are still known to be dangerous—when awake, these dragons use startlingly fast reflexes to nab prey before retreating back to the depths to sleep. Most Archelonians prefer the sea, but a few have been documented in fresh water reservoirs. They are most active at night, as bright light tends to hurt their eyes.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation.
