Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Shiny. If it's shiny, 24ct wants it. Lagie thinks he must be part magpie, as 24ct will pick up and carry off anything shiny. He's quite the kleptomaniac. So far in his section of the cave he has gathered some shiny gems swiped from various humans, shiny pieces of glass found in his travels, shiny leaves that are bound to be thrown away once they turn brown and start to crumble, and even a very shiny pig swiped out from under the nose of the farmer that had just scrubbed it off. Lagie really hopes the poor pig doesn't end up as dinner someday but 24ct refuses to return it so it stays, trying to keep itself shiny so it isn't eaten.
