Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

One of the patriarchs of the cave, Vhirn carries himself in a dignified manner and nearly always tries to maintain an atmosphere of formality. Unfortunately, this effect is often spoiled in the ridiculous, rowdy manner in which most of his friends and close family act. Despite his pompous nature and lack of tact, he is very intelligent, fast and strong, able to fly at over mach five and outwit most dragons in the cave. He feels a deep reluctance to let any of his children have mates, convinced that no one could possibly be good enough for them, but with some convincing from his mate (and much more emphatically, from said children), he gives them his blessing to have families of their own. He is deeply devoted to his close (and admittedly rather small) circle of friends, and will drive himself past the point of exhaustion for any need of theirs.
