Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
User Description
From day one, Yarl was quickly labeled an extremely lazy hatchling. He moved so slowly that rock could beat him in a race and they often did, despite the stone's immensely heavy bodies.
Yarl's vines are the only thing keeping him alive, catching food for their host. He doesn't even move away from his own fewmets; instead the vines move it away for him. He doesn't bathe or socialize. The few times he does speak, his words come out in a slow, droning tone.
It was rumored that Yarl never obeyed his parents. He refused to do much more than just waste away. Because of this, his body, slowly but surely, began to become as lazy as he was. It stopped ever bothering to put energy into growing.
Hens use this little tale to frighten their offspring with anyways. A warning against the evils of procrastination. But in truth, Yarl has a genetic disorder which creates each and every single one of these symptoms, including his lack of growth.
