Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

There are holes in reality, torn places where the magic of the world doesn't reach. They can form around anything: humans or dragons; animals, plants, or places; animate and inanimate objects alike. To even approach one of these holes risks both mind and soul, as they tear away at the essence of a being.

The Culexus is surrounded by one of these holes. Even in the egg it was a vortex of emptiness; the wound in reality drew a vampire of the Legion to it. At no risk to a soul it didn't have, the vampire was wise enough to understand the use it could make of such a creature; so it bit the egg and brought the hatchling into undeath and the Legion.

Grown to maturity, the Culexus now wanders the earth at its sire's side, turning its abilities to the Legion's unfathomable ends.
