Terrae Dragons are primarily herbivores who prefer to eat from the tops of trees. However, due to their massive size, they must rely on small, specialized scales to absorb and convert energy from the sun. Since they live in tightly-knit groups, this form of energy absorption helps preserve the forests in which these dragons reside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kayla the Forest Magus, mate of Dalryn the Radiant Prince, is often called the voice of nature. Hers is the power of communion—she is able to speak to animals and even plants, or be a conduit for woodland spirits, although doing so greatly exhausts her. As such, she is an invaluable asset to her mate, Dalryn the Radiant Prince, in tracking down his vile quarries. Because of her mate's penchant for masquerading as a human, the wood sprites provided Kayla with a mystical amulet, which allows her to take a human shape of her own and thus always remain at his side. As a result, very few know she is a dragon, for she spends her time around humans in the guise of a hermit witch—albeit not the old and warty sort.
