Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shen didn't know her life as an egg. Taken from the Abandoned Area as a common, she was raised slowly. Shen's hatchling life was harsh. All of the pretty dragons teased her for not having a tremendous variety of colors in her skin. Instead of playing in the golden sunlight, Shen got away from the other hatchlings by dancing within the moon's light. Dew often formed on her skin. As Shen grew up, the other dragons respected her more, but not very much. She was still bitten and thrown. However, the madness ended when Shen showed her true personality: she was a killer. Shen destroyed one of the bullies. She is strong and deadly, known for her extreme independence as a child.
