Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has bright blue eyes, and is as clumsy as any other hatchling, but it never seems to get injured.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This majestic white hatchling was lost in the underbrush of a dirty pile of abandoned eggs. Coming from a long lineage of different dragons, this child's egg got kicked into the dirt. Someone picked his egg up very gently. After days of incubation and loving care, he hatched. Reaching into their pocket, the human pulled out a few seeds of grain. The first thing he saw was the care of another species, reaching out to him. The human was a dragon caretaker. Almost immediately, after abuse and rejection, under the loving care of an outsider, the dragon grew wings. He was just like an Angel. Angel-Feath-er.
