Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

What good was there in titles Shield was never one to care about such things. Since she was a hatchling she wanted to protect the innocent, but it was never for fame or reputation. It was something a bit more personal. Her siblings, they had been young and helpless and she watched them perish. She never wanted anyone to be that defenceless ever again. Some of the other Guardian Dragons want fame, they want fancy titles, want to be known and complimented and praised. Shield was disgusted by them. Protecting those that could not protect themselves more important. And she wasn't one to keep her morals to herself either. In a way she did separate herself from the others, but to her it didn't matter. Protecting the innocent was what mattered. And in truth, the others could tell. It did make her different, but in a good way. Fancy titles didn't matter to her, but she earned one all the same. Shield of the Dragon Kin. And she still protects the innocent to this day.
