Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a voracious appetite.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Phoxy likes to raid farms—specifically, henhouses on farms. Amidst great clucking and flapping of feathered wings, she collects her breakfast and then races away.

Farmers who have seen her eat eggs describe her tossing one egg up in the air at a time, then snapping forward with her jaws to crush it in her mouth. If any of it runs out the side of her mouth, she licks her lips as though savoring the most delicious thing in the world.

Farmers and chickens alike detest her, but neither are able to stop her.
