Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pema the Abandoned Wonder is a frozen vine hatchling...and the first hatchling rescued from the abandoned pile by her clan. Nobody knows the origin of Pema the Abandoned Wonder's egg, nor the clan she came from. However, she was abandoned as a hatchling, dumped into the pile to slowly starve to death. Naturally, that wasn't going to happen, as for some reason, everyone adores abandoned hatchlings and greedily snatch them away. However, Pema was an adept dodger, and continued to slip, twist, and rush away from the grips of all the greedy snatchers. It wasn't until Beacker1160's dragons persuaded her that she allowed herself to be taken. Later, when asked why she didn't go with anyone else, she responded indignantly that she did not want to become an unnamed and unloved trophy in someone else's clan, wasting away as the owner showed her off to their friends. However, as she has learned, in Beacker1160's clan she is not treated that way, and she is leading a happy life.
