Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kent Nuria's egg was found by the human Ember Nuria, in the tallest mountain of Elgar. The day he hatched, a blue striped dragon named Malkamalka Nuria also hatched. He had not been raised by Ember, but his parents had, and he was their only child. Malkamalka immediately took a liking to Kent, but Kent was hostile to him, and tried to avoid him. Kent soon grew lonely, as Ember had no other hatchlings for him to play with, so he joined Malkamalka in his games. Malkamalka was an energetic creature, and he loved to wrestle with Kent. Kent though, had strength in his favor, and often won. One day, they went down the mountain to the dragons raised by Flight, Ember's friend. They met a female hellfire dragon named Cavyree, and Kent soon fell head over heels in love. Sadly for him, Cavyree was more aggressive than he was, and soon scared the boys away. Undaunted, Kent still lives on the highest mountain of Elgar, certain that Cavyree will someday come to love him.
