Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Last Vestige of Summer is less of a dragon, and more of an idea. This hatchling emerged right at the end of the summer, the day before the autumnal equinox, in fact. This little one flits throughout the cave, aimlessly bringing the joy of summer to the gradually depressing dragons. None can refuse the tidbit of happiness enveloped in a carefree hatchling.
