Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. A proud young dragon, this male's affinity for fire rivals that of the greatest red dragons. Making his home on the smoking sides of an old volcano, he relishes the warmth and fears not the wrath, his acute senses alerting him well in advance of any eruption and allowing him to fly to safety in time. While he's usually harmless, content to wallow in his ashy bed and share riddles with any who climb up to his home, those who seek to harm him soon see the darker side of his strength. More than one fool has attempted to take his life to gain his hide, and to them he shows his love of fire is more than aesthetic; able to breathe powerful surges of flame and manipulate them into bestial form with magic, he's never once failed to take his revenge against the ill-intended.
