Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Exanguinate is the firstborn son of Meredydd, the chief of this area's warrior clan.  Thus, he was raised in a strong fighting tradition.  He is enormous in stature for a Black dragon, powerfully built and exceptionally skilled in the use of magic.  This makes him an excellent fighter and a valuable asset to his mother.  He serves as her highest lieutenant, often leading battles when she is incapacitated or otherwise engaged.  For all his passion in battle, Exanguinate shows little emotion when it comes to female dragons and creating a family of his own.  Hardened by battle and made cold by the horrors he has witnessed, Exanguinate breeds only to increase the size and strength of his clan.
