Hiyokomame, like a typical hen, is a bit dull. However small her brain may be though, she still has some wits about her. She enjoys entertaining the young hatchlings; they, in turn, enjoy trying to pluck out her tail feathers. None have succeeded yet, though, which could be disastrous for the youngling. Hiyokomame has a tendancy to spazz a bit when she is angry, and a sharp claw or beak could easily scratch a half-grown dragon. In Japanese, her name means "chickpea".
