Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s kind of shaky on its feet and enjoys playing in puddles.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Aquain fell off of the cliff on the edge of the floating volcano and surrounding island that his clan's cave is in and hasn't left the ocean since. He honestly thinks that he is a rare breed of seahorse and will defend the nearest one from any threat. Many a shark has had their tooth chipped by this hatchling, and the sharks don't really know what to do after that happens. No one really knows how this happened, but some think that he landed on a whale on his way down.
