Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

He was raised by Hisashi and Hisako after his biological parents didn't want him when his egg grew cold and dead. His mother decided to name him Zetsumei, the Japanese word for "Death", since his egg was cold and smelled like death. Both of Zetsumei's parents love him so much, and were thrilled that he had Shinigami waiting for him when he grew up. Zetsumei fell in love with Shinigami because of her strong spirit. He loves hunting with her, and he enjoys spending the night with her. He enjoys reading her stories, and painting beautiful portraits of her. He says that her ivory hide and blood red wings are the most beautiful that he's ever seen. She is his everything, and he couldn't love her more. He looks forward to spending the rest of his eternity with her, they are soul mates, destined to be together forever in happy bliss.
