Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shinmoedake's birth came upon the day of a great cataclysm. The skies above the isle of Kyushu were black with great plumes of ash. Lightning crackled at the heart of the soot-clouds. Lava poured down toward the cave where an infant Shinmoedake and her mother quivered with fear.

While the outside world seemed convinced that the eruption was a natural occurrence, the villagers upon Kyushu knew the truth. Their home was the stage for a great battle between two elemental dragons, both supremely territorial. Shinmoedake's grandfather had not taken too kindly to the fact that her father, a magma, had the audacity to mate with his daughter. Her father was protecting his own.

To quell the conflict, her parents ultimately had to send the young stud away. He now lives in a faction of the Ferox clan. To his credit, he's a fairly strong individual and has put much forth in the war versus Creorluna. Deep down, he's traumatized by the disaster he'd witnessed when lightning married fire.
