Fire Gem Dragons are a colorful, flamboyant breed often found in hot climates, particularly around active volcanoes. Their broad tails store the flames they breathe, which are colored by the heavy amount of minerals in the water they drink. These dragons come in a variety of colors, and will collect shiny trinkets and stones that match their own coloration. Despite their hoarding tendencies, though, Fire Gem dragons are social and will often congregate in groups and show off their collections while fawning over the stones their friends and rivals have gathered, occasionally arranging trades.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arlamir is the Grand King of the Fire Gem Dragon Clan, and King of his respective Tribe, the Blue Gem Tribe. He has never listened well to others, and is prideful to a fault. He rarely listens to the advice of his Deputy, Naijes. The two clash over almost everything, and so they avoid contact with one another unless an important decision has to be made. The Blue Gem Tribe considers themselves to be superior to the other two Fire Gem Tribes, since their leader is the Grand King of all three Tribes. This notion is encouraged by Arlamir, much to the annoyance of the leaders of the other Tribes. Though prideful and incredibly stuck in his ways, he has never been known to be unnecessarily cruel. In addition to leading the Fire Gem Dragon Clan, Arlamir is the Commander of the Battle Legion's Magic Company. It is said that the only dragon he is willing to take orders from is the General of the Battle Legion, who he challenged to single combat and lost against.
