Valentine eggs are only seen once a year. Adults’ mating seasons are very short, usually spanning a few weeks in the mid-to-late winter. These dragons were once reputed to be omens of good luck in love.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gloriously unaware of exactly what she is, Heart-Shaped Valentine does not believe she is any different from the more common dragons.  In fact, she views herself as a Pebble; being raised the cave's second-in-command, Vulcanica, caused her to think this way.  The cave's Guardians work hard to protect her, as well as the Christmases, as their rarity will often bring less-than-friendly clans to the cave in order to 'possess' them.  She excels at flight, being taught by Lady Tramonto, in order for her to escape from the clutches of a foreign clan if need be.  Valentine is only permitted outside of the cave if another is with her; she doesn't mind, though, as she loves the company of even the grumpy Alpha male, Preto Osso.
