Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

She was named after the Russian word for nocturnal. She was quickly abandoned as an egg and was found by a human just as her eyes had almost no light left. She gave up the chance to grow up to instead give other abandoned eggs a chance to experience a life such as her own.
