Sunstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. Their social structure resembles a lion pride, with one dominant male and several females banded together with their young. They prefer arid climates where they can blend in and dig for minerals and gemstones that they not only collect, but eat. The more gems they consume, the larger their tail stone grows. They are an aggressive breed; it is not uncommon to see two males battling for mates and territory.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Being the only female in a trio of brothers, Solaris grew up being strong and independent, while still being happy and fun to be around.  She loves to go into the desert with her friend Luna Tempores, a moonstone dragon, and talk and build sand castles.  They are popular with that hatchlings because of these sand castles which they love to play in, few of them will even sleep in the most magnificent sand castles, which improve by the day.  Although she hasn't told Luna she actually tries to make the sand castles more and more amazing as a way to impress the dragon she likes, a strong flamingo dragon named Carden Casus.  She has told only Orion, the owner of the cave, and her brothers.  They told her to talk to them on Aurora's ridge at sunset in a few days and secretly told Carden to do the same, tricking them into meeting, as Orion found out that Carden is actually equally interested in Solaris.  He eagerly awaits to see how the surprise date will go.
