Lunar Heralds are deeply attuned to the two moons of Valkemare, Aurax and Cirion. Strictly nocturnal, they draw energy from moonlight and will only hunt when the moons have waned. When breeding, the amount of moonlight the parents receive from each moon will determine the color of the egg produced. When a Lunar Herald is struck by direct moonlight, an illusion of multiple wings may appear. Witnessing a Lunar Herald’s illusory wings is commonly believed to be a sign of good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Diraxi is probably the most attractive of the three original dragons at Unfurled Meadows (the other two being Svirix and Midikura), and he knows it. His favorite pastime is climbing to the top of the large hill in the meadow at night and posing in the direct moonlight. Occasionally, he drags his eldest daughter and grandson up with him and gets one of the caretakers to whip up a magical portrait of the three and their illusory wings.

Diraxi is the largest Lunar Herald at Unfurled Meadows, reaching a whopping forty-two feet and a wingspan of thirty-seven feet. Instead of curling upwards, like a standard Herald, his horns curl down behind his facial crest and frame his face.

During one particularly hot summer, Diraxi threw a huge party with all of the dragons and they managed to tear off the entire roof of the nursery.
