Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s rather plain looking, though.

And look! It has grown wings, and bright markings have developed all over its body.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This dragon doesn't quite get why everyone considers his species to be 'plain looking.' From the vibrant green to the tinges of neon azure along his tail and shoulders to the brilliant crimson markings on his face, he thinks he's quite a good deal more fascinating and lovely in his appearance than most other, single-color dragons. Accordingly, he has given up all hopes of ever understanding anyone, if they can see drabness in his appearance, and has resigned to accepting the world for the bizarre thing it is.
