Antarean Dragons are peaceful creatures shrouded in mystery. They are primarily found in the desert where they get most of their energy from sunbathing. Their most notable traits are their highly reflective manes and the mysterious light emitted by their scales which fades from bright, nearly blinding yellow-white into dim red as the dragons get older. Legend claims that they are otherworldly beings that came to this world when a meteor struck.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

De Rae is a large group of Antarean Dragons that live in the southern coastal deserts of Galsreim. Although individuals of the group are generally friendly towards humans and other dragons, their origins remain shrouded in mystery. Their bloodlines trace back hundreds of years, and legend has it that the oldest members of the group are of extraterrestrial origin.

Julian, although he is now very old, was obviously once quite a charmer. He has more offspring than any other dragon in De Rae. Many of his younger grandchildren don't even know that their bloodlines can be traced all the way back to him. Many do believe that he has a special affinity for Arabelle, the oldest and arguably most mysterious dragon of De Rae, and many believe that they were in love hundreds of years ago. However, he refuses to answer any questions pertaining to his past, and especially not about Arabelle.
