Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

For a frozen hatchling, Orbiter is smart, a bit above average. The other hatchlings are always asking questions of him, which when in excess, makes him a bit grumpy. Orbiter, however, is not mean, and sometimes, he is rather humorous, although he can be slightly sarcastic. Orbiter is friends with all kinds of dragons and even some humans. Due to his friendly personality, it is not odd to see him chatting around close friends, but since he's rather shy, it is hard to see him in large groups.
