This breed of dragon results from eggs or hatchlings that have been neglected. They are usually rebellious, not obeying their masters, sometimes even attacking them. However, their neglect as a hatchling leaves them crippled, and they are weak compared to other breeds, causing them to stay with their masters for protection.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Oorix was nearly one of Dragonhaven Island's few failures. It took the tireless efforts of Iyuram and Aexir to keep his egg intact for long enough to hatch, and Aexir nearly gave his egg to Diathkhal to bite, reasoning that a live vampire was better than a dead egg. Oorix was always a sickly hatchling, with little energy and no interest in games. He spent most of his time with Miss Wisteria Petalfall, Thelsala, and the other quieter adults, absorbing more knowledge than any of them realized. Once grown, he took over one of the smaller pocket universes and, with the help of a few pygmy dragons, turned it into a refuge for the small and easily overwhelmed.
