Blacktip Dragons are a small, shore-dwelling breed that tend to nest on sheer ocean side cliffs. They live in groups under a dominant female, who prevents her subordinates from breeding. During the mating season, a group of Blacktips can be very noisy and smelly indeed; males produce a distinctive musky odor and loud, low-pitched honking noises in an attempt to woo the alpha female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Life started out difficult for this blacktip who would eventually rise to greatness. Alone, scorned, not even given a name for much of his early life, he struggled with feelings of despair. The other dragons derided him as plain, unwanted, a waste of resources. Instead of letting the abuse break him, it put the steel into his resolve; he would find greatness, and all the world would tremble at his name! Taking the title of Lord of the Salt Brigade, he and his mate the Lady Saltine founded the Army of Salt for purposes mysterious and unknown. His confidence and charisma quickly drew hundreds of other similarly scorned blacktip dragons to the cause, their ranks growing more numerous by the day. Under his command, the salty hordes have made several exploratory forays into battle but no one yet knows the true power of the Salt Army.
