Paper Dragons are not truly living creatures. They are pieces of parchment enchanted by magic, and as such, are very vulnerable to fire. However, they behave almost like dragons. The only place where their behavior differs is breeding: paper dragons cannot breed.

Created by an Indian medicine man, this dragon is a faithful scout, perching atop the totem pole at night to keep a watchful eye for enemies. When he's not on guard duty, however, he's a lover and not a fighter; he's developed the habit of romping around with the young ones, and often gets torn and dirty as a result. Not wanting to have to repair him every night, the exasperated shaman set him to watching babies; but he took a liking to that, too, curling around them to keep them warm and purring. This cute trait earned him his name, Papoose. The medicine man wanted to name him 'mighty bringer of death and thunder,' but upon hearing this, the poor, timid creature promptly fainted. Papoose stuck.

But the shaman's plans backfired again, as the babies would spit up and drool on him, and so he got dirty even then. The weary man has given up on trying to keep him clean all the time, and so Papoose is now free to do as he wishes during the day, and only gets a full fix-up once per week.
