Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Behold, seeker of the dragon lore, Oyio of the Dark Green Dragons. When he hatched, he was no different from any other hatchling. He was born near a mage's tower where his mother and he dwell to this day. When he was close to maturing and beginning to dig himself into the earth and spreading the first blossoming vines, a spell from the tower hit him which seems to have been intended for the mage himself: a spell of eternal youth. The mage was delighted with the result on the young dragon but never managed to cast this spell again for which reason he died while Oyio remains an eternal hatchling by the side of his mother.
