Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

ITHY, as he is affectionately called, visits SANCTUARY off and on, bringing gifts from his travels in far-reaching forests for the little hatchlings he loves so much. It is usually Lady-of-the-Night who spies him incoming from afar and gives the formal announcement (since he is royalty): "Ith Draco arriveth!" Then all the little hatchlings, and the minties as well, jump up and go running out of the cave, crying "Ithy's here, Ithy's here! Did you bring me a present, Ithy Did you remember what I wanted, Ithy They all shouted at once, but Ithy just grinned and shot a big flame up towards the sky, since he didn't want to singe any of the little ones. They all cheered and clapped, enraptured by the big, gentle dragon who was their friend.
