Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Glimmer is the fearless young leader of the Holiday dragons of SL's cave. Even though he is particularly new, the others and former leader, Flake, have admired his impulsiveness and ability to live free. So, they elected him to be the new leader, as Flake was aging.

Glimmer has offered a new era for the Holiday dragons, as he is both hot-headed and intellectual. He rules with an iron fist, and is old fashioned and serious, but is very prideful and flamboyant. He uses his intellect to get the things that his dragons want, and becomes their friends so that they will be less likely to revolt against him if a new Holiday dragon were to be introduced. Glimmer can often be seen preening his glimmery scales (hence his name) and fussing over any scratch that deters the shine.

Shimmer is Glimmer's completely serious and extremely old-fashioned brother. They often argue, as they have different perspectives on things, but in the end they're just looking out for each other.
