Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

SunStoneDreamer is a vicious little Sunstone Dragon hatchling. She is the most fearsome hatchling in her Pride. SunStoneDreamer will join her father, ProudSunStone, in driving off other males from his group of females. It is almost funny to see her growling and snarling behind her father, like a tiny cat in a battle of lions. It is pretty funny, but other Sunstones have found out that SunStoneDreamer bites really hard.
