Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bluoni is a calm, laid-back dragon. Unlike his cousin Redoni, he prefers a quiet existence. If Bluoni had it his way, his day wouldn't begin until several hours after the sunrise. Unfortunately, Redoni believes that once the sun is up, the day has begun and it is time for an adventure. Bluoni is fond of his cousin, irritating and early rising as he is, and feels somewhat responsible for him. After all, without Bluoni's help, Redoni probably would have gotten lost in the woods long ago. This would not have bothered Redoni a bit, but Bluoni would eventually start to miss his cousin's enthusiastic nature. At least, that's what he tells himself when Redoni comes bounding into his nest at dawn, rambling excitedly about hidden caverns or butterfly swarms.
