Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The cave master had a difficult decision to make. Hatchlings that grew up alone were running away, outside the protection of the cave. A hatchling needed to be frozen, to prevent this. A Guardian hatchling was the obvious choice, but they had only one, a playful female named Rasha, nursed back to health from soft shell. "My Lady" asked her first dragon, to which the fog dragon replied,"I shall freeze her."<br/>     <br/>The next morning, the cave master called Rasha over. "Yeah" chirped the young dragon, and the cave master laid her head on Rasha's. Just as the cave master was leaving, Rasha called out,<br/>"My Lady"<br/>"Yes"<br/>"I want to be just like you when I grow up."<br/>    The cave master walked away, too heartbroken to respond.
