Sunstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. Their social structure resembles a lion pride, with one dominant male and several females banded together with their young. They prefer arid climates where they can blend in and dig for minerals and gemstones that they not only collect, but eat. The more gems they consume, the larger their tail stone grows. They are an aggressive breed; it is not uncommon to see two males battling for mates and territory.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Carlos Caridad is charismatic, clever, handsome, sassy, competitive, ambitious, and a funny dragon. He is also built to be a survivor and a warrior being a sunstone dragon, a dragon species that is naturally already strong and fierce. Not many dragon species can survive so successful in the harsh conditions of the menacing desert. Also because of the Sunstone dragon's culture one male is the leader of a pack of females, so Carlos is confused about his own clans way of life. His own clan functions with two alpha's, one male alpha and a female alpha. So he often challenges both the alpha's to become the dominant leader. He never won one one of these challenges despite his efforts and raw force. This is because the alpha male is a magi dragon and the alpha female a water dragon (his natural weakness). He means well for his clan, truly believing that it is only better for the well being of his clan. Carlos negative traits are however that he can be selfish, hot headed and too proud.
