Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Delicate, lovely Presque Vu is a creature so quiet and unassuming, she is often overshadowed by the more large and lumbering dragons in the cave. Her shimmering wings appear as fragile as a butterfly's, but day by day the tiny drake always manages to evade clumsy footsteps with surprising dexterity. Yet-- while being so very, very small-- Presque Vu happens to have a very, very big secret; her closest and most trusted friend is also her secret mate. Jamais Vu, a Sunset dragon many times her size and of a different species, possesses a requited adoration for the Day Glory drake that knows no bounds. As scornful taboo in dragon tradition and unable to produce eggs, the two are forced to keep their bond a secret to everyone but themselves. They instead rely on loyalty and perseverance to keep their friendship strong, and Presque Vu hopes one day she won't have to remain quiet about something many other dragons take for granted.
