Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys gathering pebbles and other small rocks and putting them in a pile.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Viridian has a terrible secret: he likes planting gardens.  While his father amuses himself by throwing boulders down mountains, Viridian patiently nurtures seeds to sprouts and arranging bulbs to blossom in pleasing arrangements.  In order to be considered a proper Earth dragon, Viridian tried to construct rock gardens, but found them to be unsatisfying.  He suspects that it's his lack of an Earth dragon nature which prohibits him from ever exiting adolescence, but is too embarrassed to ask, because that would mean confessing his secret.
