Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The esteemed granddaughter of Antares and Callista and daughter of Ansem and Agatha, Halcyon is known for her detached personality and quiet demeanor. Rarely does she speak with those she isn't extremely close to, such as her immediate family or her mate, Seymour. Though she is rather introverted, Halcyon does enjoy being out in the forest on her own; she often elects to go on solo hunting trips, rather than in groups like the others of her clan do. This is why she was deemed such an unlikely mate for the interested Seymour, who was quite taken with her and her mysteriousness. It turns out, though many doubted their relationship, that there was no one better at drawing her out of her shell a little. Unfortunately, Halcyon's to-herself approach to life makes her seem mistrustful or self-righteous. Because of this, she doesn't have many friends, and some of the dragons around her age talk about her behind her back. She is best friends with her cousin and close personal confidant, Hilda.
