Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Freani-eplith, or Friends of the Forest, are a guild that has sworn to protect the forest and all who pass through it. There are four "divisions" within the guild: The Guardians, The Cloud Guard, The Earth Guard, and The Bloodseekers.

The Earth Guard functions much like the Cloud Guard, just as a land unit. They rarely intervene in the affairs of humans and other dragons, preferring to simply observe and report back to the Guardians or the Leader.

Dathiel belongs to the Earth Guard. Unlike the other dragons in her division, she is a meddler. Curious, bold, and perhaps a little naive, Dathiel will happily interrupt suspicious activity in her territory. Thanks to years spent refining her combat skills with the guild, she can defend herself with both claw and spell if she gets in over her head.
