Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

The movement of stone dragons is a rare thing. So rare, indeed, that some dracologists will spend months on end sitting still, waiting for such an event to occur. This was the case for one aspiring young researcher, a man who most of the other dracologists thought wasn't patient enough for their line of work. Accordingly, he was given the dubious honor of observing one particularly motionless stone dragon until she moved. Days passed. Weeks. Months. Not a single twitch of the eyelids happened. Finally the dracologist broke down, kicking the immobile dragon in the toe and screaming at her to do something, ANYTHING.

And so it was that the stone dragon finally moved. She bent down, plucked off the very expensive ruby ring the stunned man was wearing, and ate it.

"Tastes like rock," she commented, thoughtfully. Then she went promptly back to sleep.

That young dracologist has since gone on to become quite the good one, but for some reason he still doesn't really like stone dragons.
