Green Dragons are also sometimes called “earth” dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down onto the ground.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Emerald-Scales is the eldest son of Omniscient and Sapphire Ngoc. When he first hatched, he was introduced to Omniscient's human partner, Dawn. He liked humans immediately, after knowing Dawn.

After he grew wings, he wanted to leave his parents and go search around the world. When his parents told him it was a dangerous world, he pleaded that he wanted to go on an adventure. He snuck out one night, not mature enough to be an adult yet, and was almost killed by a group of humans who had been camping. Emerald-Scales had flown back home, confused by the anger of the humans. His parents had been worried sick, and he promised them then and there that he would never leave them.

As he grew, he realized that not all humans were like Dawn, nor were all dragons like his parents.
