Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It must be very shy since it keeps hiding from you.

It’s gotten slightly bigger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Itty Bitty Mintty is actually the largest of the frozen hatchlings. She was very close to growing up, but she angered a magi dragon. The magi froze her in time, so she would never grow larger or older. She returned home sadly after that, as she had loved another mint but would never be able to mate. She made the best of it, though, as she was even smaller than adults and was able to squeeze into little holes. As a result, she was good at playing hide-and-seek, as she combined her brain power with her size to win.
