Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

One late Christmas eve a young sickly boy was snuggled in his bed, waiting for the next morning. His only Christmas wish was for a dragon. A wicked dragon, slain and sent to limbo, was given a chance to redeem himself. He was given the chance to be reborn as living doll in order to test his commitment, and left under the boy's tree that night. The dragon doll was with the boy every second until his body gave way to his ailment. The boy's last, fading tears remind the dragon about what it feels like to be alive and touched by what he saw in the boy, he was allowed to be reborn into a Christmas dragon.
