Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ereg Rauko, the Holly Demon. That is the name given to him by the rest of the Christmas dragons after he was caught meddling with those who are not allowed to partake in the candy-striped holiday. It takes a dragon with a black heart and a blood-filled past to get banned from Christmas, and no one disagrees with the spirits' decisions. No one except Rauko. Every year, he makes it his mission to bring little trinkets to those nightmare-inducing shadow lurkers. One year, the rest of the Christmas dragons found out what Rauko was up to, and ambushed him on his gifting rounds. They rolled him in soot, hiding the beautiful festive stripes that adorn his body, ripped the velvety covering off his antlers, and tore up his leafy wings. Even so, he was determined to continue, knowing that a cheery holiday should not be denied to anyone, not even the most vile creatures alive.
