Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

In the world of dragons, a name is extremely powerful. The dragon gods had long ago decreed that no two dragons would ever have the same name. A dragon's soul is sealed upon their name so if they die and another dragon, no matter how different, was named their name, that dragon's soul would be transferred to that body.

Kangaroowings was once a dragonkeeper, long ago. A very powerful, vengeful mage had cut her soul from her body and sealed it to a white dragon and barred her from ever being human again. Kanga was miserable about her lost humanity, but greatest desire was still to take care of her dragons, so she resigned herself to a lifetime of healing her dragons. Eventually the white dragon died and a tiny magi was named Kangaroowings. Kanga was very unhappy about this new development. The magi has yet to grow wings, so she doesn't even know if she's male or female, and in her tiny form, she can't help her dragons. Kanga's greatest dream is one day obtaining a silver female body.
