This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mij the Vampire Impostor is a frozen vampire hatchling...maybe. Many dragons believe that Mij the Vampire Impostor is not actually a vampire dragon. They think that Mij is some other species of dragon, and that he always dresses himself up as a vampire hatchling for some strange, unknown reason. Nobody really knows whether this is true or not, since none of the dragons have been able to find Mij looking like anything other than a vampire hatchling. Mij certainly acts very much like a vampire—he sleeps during the day and roams the dark forests and plains during the night. He even has vampire-like fangs, which he uses to sink into the other adult dragons' ankles, trying to draw blood. This results in him being called an 'annoyance' and a 'troublesome hatchling', but that doesn't bother him too much. All he cares about is looking and behaving just like the vampires that he admires and looks up to.
