Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It glows with some form of arcane energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Frozen forever as a dragon on the cusp of maturity, the Magi hatchling happily padded along after her human. The young dragon was so happy that the woman had returned to the manor, she let lose a few happy chirps. This caused the human to look back at the dragon with a warm smile, which prompted more happy clicks and squeaks from the exuberant fledgling. She couldn't contain herself after weeks of separation from the woman, and assaulted the human's mind with so many disjointed memories and over layering emotions that the woman staggered to a halt and fell to her knees. The dragon let out a squeal of alarm and ran to the fallen body, she gently nudged the human in silent apology. After a moment, the woman smiled at the hatchling, assuring her that all was well.
