Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Tsumetai Higure was named in his father's native tongue, Japanese, his name meaning 'Chilly Dusk.' A jovial young hatchling, he enjoys his frozen status, his small stature not bothering him in the least. Always on his father's tail, he loves to watch sunsets with him, his favorite time of year being in the Autumn, when he watches the sun set in the chill.
